We invite you to join us on this unforgettable 11-day journey of dance, culture, ritual and ceremony through one of Mexico's most extraordinary and least-visited regions in the south of Mexico. On this adventure, which we designed from our hearts in collaboration with two local bio-cultural conservation organizations, we will move from the historical streets of Oaxaca city to the sacred mountains of the Sierra Mixe and the shores of the Pacific coast, with daily 5Rhythms™ movement sessions woven into an abundant itinerary of encounters with local families, artisans, traditional healers, and the living elements of the land itself.

Local coordinators
Uriel Alcántara and Chala Garcia are the co-founders of Raíz Ayuuk and guides on the ground in Oaxaca. Uriel, currently president of the Unión Turística Nación Mixe and whose roots are from the Sierra Mixe, bridges the region’s communities, traditions, and territories. Chala brings years of experience connecting people across cultures and languages. Together they design and accompany every journey with care, knowledge, and commitment.

Facilitators
Willemijn de Dreu is dedicated to the dancing path and the freedom it unlocks. She is known for her fiery yet grounded presence and her gentle, healing way of working with movement. Over the years, Willemijn has traveled extensively through the Americas, building  relationships with indigenous cultures and traditions along the way. Her connection to the elements, shamanic rituals and ceremonial practices like the sweat lodge, flow naturally into her teaching.

Heleen van der Veen lives from a love of nature, movement, connection, and awareness. As a massage therapist and yoga teacher, she guides people toward deeper relaxation and balance. Dance practices like 5Rhythms and Movement Medicine are a central part of her life and her work. Oaxaca holds a special place in Heleen's heart. After many visits it has become a second home, and offering this retreat here is a natural coming together of everything she loves.
